Party Time

So tonight we had an "Appetizers, Wine, and Dessert Party. Delicious. So yummy. But now it;s over, and everyone has gone home. Before 1 am. Like old people. Is this what happens? You reach an age above 25 (or above 26) and all of a sudden, even on a weekend, people have to "get to bed" around (or before) midnight?! Wow.
That being said, it was fun, and we had really good appetizers, wine and dessert!
This was the spread BEFORE other people got here...we may have gone a little overboard. But my friend Lora came, and we haven't seen each other in YEARS:
And some Urbana gals were in attendance, which is always fun:
It was a nice night, and we are already planning the next one (which trust me, is easier said than done because we are busy ladies!)

Parental Units

This past weekend, the parental units visited. We went out to Dunley's with Grandma B, and the mom and I putzed around in Lincoln Square, where we happened to stumble upon their Trick-or-Treating. So many small children dressed as monkeys, and ladybugs, and pieces of fruit (bananas). But the best was a teeny tiny Harry Potter and his tall tall Dad dressed a Hagrid- THE CUTEST! The we met up with dad and went on the Chicago Architecture Foundation boat tour.
It was beautiful (albeit a little chilly), and I learned a lot about the buildings I see all the time. I tried to take a picture of the three of us:
To be fair, mom did warn me that I was aiming at the aisle the whole time...But the lighting was beautiful and the rest of the pictures turned out pretty good:
That night we went to Revolution Brewing Company, one of my favorite neighborhood places, that has amazing food and beer! The next morning we went to Lula Cafe for brunch, another neighborhood favorite. So much good food! And really nice to spend time with two of my favorite people!
